UNITED STATES POWER CURL

RULES OF PERFORMANCE

The competitor will be given the verbal "Curl" command when he \ she is standing erect with shoulders back and arm straight. Once the competitor has reached a position where the bar is parallel to the shoulders, he \ she will be given the verbal "Down" command. Although the competitor can lean backwards during the curl, there can be no forward movement during the course of the lift.

A 5’ straight power bar (30 lbs.) and collars (5 lbs. per) will be used for all state, regional, and national contests.

In the case of a tie, the lighter guy wins. If both competitors weigh the same, than they must be re-weighed after their flight is completed.

General:

All competitors must make their first attempt known during weigh-in. This attempt can only be changed prior to the start of your flight. Your second attempt must be made known to the scoring table no later than 60 seconds after your first attempt is completed, and your second attempt can’t be changed. Your third attempt must be made known to the expediter no later than 60 seconds after your second attempt is completed, and your third attempt can’t be changed.

The competitor has 1 minute after the Head Referee calls "the bar is loaded" to make his or her attempt. Failure to make the attempt in the specified time will result in your lift being turned down.

Coaches are not allowed on the platform or in the warm-up area.

Due to the nature of our sport, the round system (the bar will be loaded progressively for the first, second, and third attempts) will be used for all sanctioned contests.

Reasons for disqualifying an attempt:

Bending the knees after being given the "Curl" command
Raising the elbow after being given the "Curl" command
Leaning forward after being given the "Curl" command
Starting the attempt before receiving the referee "Curl" command
Lowering the bar or leaning forward before receiving the referee "Down" command
